There's a new edition of the Official Travel Guide to the 2007 Rugby World Cup, just out, and with this one there's one big difference. One lucky reader has chance to win a pair of tickets to the Rugby World Cup Final in France, being played at the Stade de France in St-Denis, Paris, on October 20th, 2007.
Two more readers can win tickets to the semi-final matches, being held on October 13th and 14th in the same stadium. If you want to check out a full fixture list, by the way, just click here.
The Official Travel Guide to the 2007 Rugby World Cup is one of the most exciting guidebook projects I've been involved with. The only other one that's comparable for kudos was writing the National Geographic Traveler Guide to Greece. To have a whole year in which to research and write about a country I love, and to be working for the prestigious National Geographic name, is hard to top.
On the other hand, spending several weeks in summer 2006 visiting Cardiff, Edinburgh, Lyon, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Montpellier and St-Etienne, which were the Rugby World Cup venue cities that I covered with my wife Donna Dailey – well, that was pretty good too.
Even better, of course, would be to be able to go and see the Rugby World Cup itself, but unfortunately getting tickets for the matches wasn't part of the deal. I guess I'll just have to enter the competition, like everybody else. So to find out all about it, and for a chance to buy the book online at the reduced price of £12.99, saving £7 on the official cover price, click here to go to the official website.
